Plastic Surgery Nursing Associate

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nursing Associate Band 4 Full time post (37.5 hours per week) within the Plastic Surgery Department Gates 28 & 28c. You will be working alongside Plastic Surgeons and other Nursing staff in the Plastic Surgery Ward and the Plastic Surgery Assessment Unit.

Main duties of the job

You will work 11.5 hour shifts directly looking after patients on the ward or Assessment unit. You will work as a team to support Surgeons, Nurses and Care Support Workers within your team. You will be responsible for the evaluation and implementation of all aspects of patient centred care using current evidence based practice including: Medicine administration, pre, peri & post op care of patients, simple and complex dressings and discharge planning. You will also assist Plastic Surgeons in the Major treatment room on the department.

  • Foundation Level Degree: Nursing Associate Qualification
  • NMC Registered Nursing Associate Foundation Degree
  • Completion of End Point Assessment for applicants who have undertaken an apprenticeship route
  • GCSE Grade A-C English and Maths or Level 2 in Maths and English
  • When English is spoken as a second language, must have an IELTS score of 7.0
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Completion of end point assessment if undertaken NA training as an apprentice

EXPERIENCE

  • Be able to demonstrate ability to work in the area for which an application is made
  • Good experience of working in a teams
  • Experience of with the public demonstrating good customer care skills
  • Experience of health coaching and promoting independent living

KNOWLEDGE & AWARENESS

  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
