The Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust has an exciting opportunity for a MRI Clinical Manager to fulfil a key role within our busy MRI department. This role requires excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with a focus on continuous self-improvement and helping others. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate evidence of good MRI radiographic experience. You will have good team membership skills and the ability to act diplomatically in sensitive situations involving patients or staff. We require someone who can step into this role with confidence, professionalism and the ability to motivate themselves and others. We are a multi-site trust and as part of your role you will be required to work across any site (including Pinderfields, Pontefract, Dewsbury and Wakefield CDC) within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Communication is required with a variety of groups and individuals both internal and external to the organisation. Information to be communicated is usually sensitive, complex and occasionally contentious in nature and should be delivered in a manner appropriate and sensitive to the recipients needs. Communication should at all times be professional and use of a variety of media may be required, presentation to groups will be essential. Motivational, supportive and/or directive communication strategies will be required. To function as an autonomous practitioner taking responsibility and accountability for effective care delivery. This aspect of the role involves moving and handling and positioning patients (including those on chairs trolleys, beds and the detachable scan table), insertion of canulae, injection of IV contrast manually or via a programmable injection pump and performing ECG gated examinations. This also requires frequent moving and handling of receive and transmit coils between the scan table and the coil storage cabinet. Depending on the size of the coil and age of the particular scanner, some are heavy.

The MRI Clinical Manager will provide specialist clinical advice, leadership, support, guidance and training to radiographers and other healthcare professionals working within the Trust.

A key part of the role will be developing advanced and expert clinical service to enhance patient care across the MRI service.

The post holder will support and contribute to the leadership of the radiographic and wider multidisciplinary team in line with the service vision whilst developing as a MRI Clinical Manager

Time will be distributed between clinical and non-clinical duties as per the outline job plan.
