Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly team of nurses working within MY EYE day care and theatre facility. The post is 37.5 hours per week
The successful candidate will provide assistance to registered nurses and doctors by effective, prompt, and competent undertaking of delegated tasks, whilst caring for ophthalmic patients undergoing surgery.
The candidate will be an effective communicator, resourceful, and have the ability to work well in a team, with a caring and sensitive attitude and is able to empathise with partially sighted people and their families.
Previous experience would be beneficial, but not essential, as training will be provided. In exchange we will offer a supportive working environment and opportunity for development.
Main duties of the job
To provide Nursing Care for patients undergoing surgery under local anaesthetic.
To provide nursing care pre & post operatively, and preparing patients for discharge home.
To provide support for registered practitioners and clinicians in a theatre environment, whilst maintaining the safety the patient undergoing surgery.

Must have: Level 2 in numeracy and literacy (or equivalent) Completed Care Certificate accredited by e-learning for healthcare – evidence of both theory and all practical elements of the skills for health 15 standards (training completed via e-learning only will not be accepted) Plus must have one of the following: Vocational Level 3 qualification in a Health related subject regulated by OFQUAL For existing Mid Yorkshire staff evidence of Band 2 competency booklet completed Any new employees who can evidence competency of core clinical skills, as outlined above in the CSW Band 3 JD
Experience
Experience of working in a health care setting in a band 2 role
Experience of working in day care or theatre (but not essential)
Knowledge
Evidence of using one’s own initiative Awareness of risks, identifying them and alerting appropriate personnel Knowledge of basic IT systems Ability to learn new skills and adapt existing knowledge. Understanding of responsibility, accountability and confidentiality, relevant to the healthcare role To have a basic understanding of the NHS and the roles of nurses, therapists, and social care professionals within a healthcare setting Knowledge of care and related procedures and relevant legislation Ability to demonstrate knowledge of data protection and health and safety issues

Good time management skills including ability to work to set deadlines. Ability to work flexibly, quickly, and accurately. Able to communicate clearly and concisely over the phone, face to face and in writing. Able to maintain positive working relationships. Maintain a safe working environment for self and others.
