Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the MY Therapy service to recruit a highly motivated Band 5 Occupational Therapist.
MY Therapy service is a large and very busy MDT incorporating Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and support staff. We are proud to have played a large part in the Connecting Care Closer to Home agenda for Wakefield. Our team is flexible and the successful candidate will be expected to work across a variety of bases across the Wakefield District.
The successful candidate will work together with colleagues, partners, patients and their families/carers in providing rehabilitation in the community thereby preventing unnecessary admissions to hospital / residential settings whilst also facilitating discharge. MY Therapy also provide therapy to the Wakefield Intermediate Care unit providing rehabilitation to patients prior to discharge into the community. We also provide an urgent community response service and specialist neuro, cardiac and respiratory and long covid services to patients in the community. We run an internal rotation in the team with opportunities to gain experience in these specialist areas.

Main duties of the job
- To independently and effectively self manage a defined caseload within the Community Rehabilitation team using evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- To be responsible for the day to day supervision of junior staff and/or students within the Community Rehabilitation team, designated by the Head Occupational Therapist/team leader.
- To contribute to the clinical and professional development of the Occupational Therapy service within the Community Rehabilitation team.
- To be flexible in your approach and use of treatment media in order to work across various locations and settings as determined by the needs of the team.
