Biomedical Scientist Haematology & Transfusion Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust | Full-time (37.5 hrs) | Rotational shifts (days, lates, nights, weekends) Make a difference across a busy, friendly service delivering high-quality care to our communities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated Biomedical Scientist to join our Haematology & Transfusion team. You will work across Dewsbury and Pinderfields laboratories, with support as and when required at Pontefract.

About the service Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust spans Pinderfields, Pontefract and Dewsbury hospitals. Haematology and Transfusion laboratories operate at Pinderfields and Dewsbury, with a remote analyser at Pontefract. You will be part of a supportive team that values collaboration, learning and patient-centred practice.
Main duties of the job
As a Biomedical Scientist in Haematology & Transfusion, you will:
Perform a wide range of routine and specialist tests to HCPC standards.
Assess samples, interpret and authorise results, and act on anomalies.
Maintain quality and safety through strict QC checks, troubleshooting and equipment care.
Work independently during core and out-of-hours shifts to ensure timely patient care.
Train and support colleagues, students and ward staff carrying out testing.
Contribute to service improvement by assisting with new methods, equipment evaluation and stock control.
You will combine precision, problem-solving and teamwork to deliver accurate results that make a real difference to patient care.
