Job summary
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our stroke and neurology team here at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. 30 hours a week.
The team have Occupational and Physiotherapists who work on 2 sites (A2 acute stroke/ Neuro - Pinderfields and ward 5 and 6, Neurology and stroke rehab - Dewsbury).
The successful candidate would have the opportunity to work on and gain experience on both units.
The successful candidate will work alongside the exceedingly experienced senior staff, gaining skills in the assessment and treatment of patients following stroke and neurological event, in both an acute / hyper acute setting and rehab setting.
This role includes complex discharge planning, cognitive rehab and upper limb rehab. The service works across 7 days.
Main duties of the job
As an Occupational Therapist on the acute stroke and neurology unit (A2) you will have the opportunity to work within the hyper acute setting, assessing patients in the initial hours following their stroke.
The experienced team will support assessment skills, with a need to make decisions regarding discharge and follow on treatment.
You will also have the opportunity to work with patients on their ongoing inpatient rehab on both A2 and ward 5 and 6, this includes use of rehab techniques and complex discharge planning.
