Job summary
We are pleased to announce an opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Practice Educator Nurse to join our paediatric Childrens assessment Unit and paediatric emergency department team. We have a 24 hour Childrens Assessment unit and paediatric emergency department at Pinderfields General Hospital.
You will be expected to work across both of these areas, developing new skills and receiving training. We also work closely with our Paediatric ED and CAU team at Dewsbury District Hospital which has a 24 hour paediatric emergency department and a 12 hour childrens assessment unit.
We cover an extended area across Wakefield and Dewsbury District, dealing with sick acute medical, surgical, and trauma needs. We desire someone who is hard working, enthusiastic, dedicated and has a passion for delivering high quality paediatric acute care. The post holder will support and facilitate staff in clinical areas to identify opportunities for maintaining and improving standards of patient care. In liaison with the Head of Nursing, Matrons and Childrens Professional Development and Education Team, promote a quality service using research and evidence based practice including the setting, monitoring and auditing of clinical standards.
Main duties of the job
Plan and maximise opportunities to deliver work-based learning for both registered and non-registered staff.
Support the monitoring, recording, and reporting of all learner activities accurately and promptly.
Maintain clinical competence across all relevant learner needs to supervise and formally assess competence.
Employ innovative and creative approaches to effectively utilise resources and technology within education programs.
Work independently with minimal supervision, coordinating own and team activities to ensure efficient service delivery.
Provide guidance and support to staff on personal and professional development by promoting Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and career advancement opportunities.
Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of nursing practice to act as a clinical resource for colleagues.
Actively participate in relevant organisational meetings, contributing feedback and taking appropriate action.
Serve as a role model by promoting excellence in practice through education, leadership, supervision, advice, and clinical skills training.
Ensure training records are accurate and up to date.
Support the development and implementation of a competency-based framework for clinical practice as part of the Childrens Professional Development and Education Team.
Demonstrate competence and expertise in the safe handling of medicines, including supervision and assessment of junior staff learning these skills.
