Job summary

The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust (MYTT) is seeking a highly motivated, clinically able applicant, who wishes to gain experience in clinical IT to work within our Chief Clinical Information Officers (CCIO) team.

The post has been specifically designed for trainees who are looking to take a 12-month break from their training, after successfully completing their FY2 year.

This is a 12-month post, beginning as soon as possible, however an August 2025 start date is preferable and would be part time 50-60% depending on preference.

Successful applicants will work cross-site at Pinderfields Hospital and Dewsbury District Hospital. MYTT is procuring and implementing a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and the successful applicant would be working alongside the project team to help deliver this large transformational project

Main duties of the job

This post will support the Chief Clinical Information Officers (CCIOs) team, working alongside a larger project team to ensure the procurement and implementation of the new EPR is a true clinical transformation project and the voices of the clinicians are being heard and utilised. Aswell as the new EPR the role will also entail being able to optimise existing digital systems throughout the organisation to get maximum benefit from these systems for patients and clinicians and ultimately improve quality of care and outcomes for patients.

This post have been specifically designed for trainees who are looking to take a 12-month break from their training, after successfully completing their FY2 year.

This is a 12-month post, the start date will be as soon as possible, however an August start date is preferable and would be part time 50-60% depending on preference. We envisage appointees will organize regular additional clinical locum work, within MYTT, in specialties of their choice; to maintain clinical competencies, provide evidence for revalidation, and gain clinical experience in individuals areas of interest. Locum work needs to be organized around the digital commitments of this post, and remain EWTD compliant, and will be remunerated at published internal locum rates

It is intended to be for 20-24 Hours a week which can be worked flexibly across the working week

Successful applicants will work cross-site at Pinderfields Hospital and Dewsbury District Hospital, based within the CCIO team, which includes the CCIO, Deputy and 3 associate CCIOs.

The Chief Clinical Information Officer provides leadership and management to support the safe and efficient design, implementation and use of digital solutions to improve quality and outcomes of care and direction on the use of clinical information to support improved quality, safety and efficiency of clinical care.

It is envisaged the Digital clinical fellow will provide a vital two-way link for the junior clinicians who are using the digital systems on a day-to-day basis

This is an exciting time to be involved in Clinical IT/Informatics. The trust is looking to procure and implement an integrated Electronic Patient Record (EPR) over the next 18months, with funding secured. This is a huge transformational project for the trust. This post will support the Chief Clinical Information Officers (CCIOs) team, working alongside a larger project team to ensure the procurement and implementation of the new EPR is a true clinical transformation project and the voices of the clinicians are being heard and utilised. Aswell as the new EPR the role will also entail being able to optimise existing digital systems throughout the organisation to get maximum benefit from these systems for patients and clinicians and ultimately improve quality of care and outcomes for patients.

This role requires individuals who are driven, ambitious and passionate about patient care.

The post requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively, ambition to improve healthcare through better information availability/sharing/analysis.

This post is not a recognized UK training post. However, the post-holder will have an enthusiastic supervisor and be supported in undertaking a wide range of CV-enhancing activities, as part of their role as a member of the clinical digital team

Terms & Conditions and Tenure

The post is offered for a 12-month fixed term, based on the current local scale, which is based on national TCS and pay scales for the equivalent of CT1 level £52,656 pro rata. The formal start date will be individually negotiated on appointment with the Trust aiming for this to be as soon as possible post appointment.

Appraisal & Revalidation

All our doctors will engage positively with appraisal and revalidation as required. They will have a prescribed connection with Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust via GMC Connect and their Responsible Officer is the MYTT Medical Director.

Continuing Professional Development

The Trust requires all its doctors to engage with continuing professional development, guided by the relevant professional associations or Royal Colleges. Time and funding are provided according to departmental and Trust policies, subject to approval through the clinical management structures. There is a programme of mandatory training which all relevant staff must complete as required.

Research

Medical staff are encouraged to develop areas of personal and/or research interest. This can be developed in liaison with the Trusts R&D department and in line with prevailing policies and research frameworks. The Trust is developing an expanding and outward-looking research programme.

Mentoring

Newly appointed medical staff will be offered mentoring opportunities either within the department or within the wider Trust and may be specified by the appointments committee. There is an induction and development programme for all new staff.

Teaching

The Trust is keen to maintain its reputation for high quality training and to attract the highest caliber of trainee and career-grade doctors.
