Job summary
Neonatal Unit, Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust Mid York's neonatal Unit is looking for a band 5 nurse to join the team for 6 months (maternity leave cover).
We are a busy, high-volume unit, admitting around 450 babies we currently host 22 cot, Level Two Local Neonatal Unit (including 3 intensive care cots, 5 high dependency cots, 15 special care cots, and a 5 cot transitional care unit). The successful candidate will provide high-quality, family-centred care to sick and pre-term infants, ensuring that we meet the needs of our diverse population We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate Nurse who is committed to the delivery of high-quality care.

Main duties of the job
To provide and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for a number of babies requiring intensive, high dependency and special care, as allocated by the Nurse in Charge To carry out all of relevant forms of care competently and without direct supervision.
To communicate with parents, carers and families about both the sensitive and complex requirements and the routine care required by the neonate using developed interpersonal and communication skills, utilising the skills of other members of the multi-professional team, as appropriate.
Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times. Demonstrate own duties to learners and new starters and act as an Assessor/Preceptor to these staff. Maintain accurate written and electronic records in accordance with Trust and NMC regulations.
To demonstrate competency in the safe and appropriate use of equipment within the Unit ,the recognising and reporting of faults and the requirements for dismantling/cleaning such equipment after use.
Admit, transfer and discharge neonates according to working practice, Trust and Unit policies and procedures.
Maintain competency in intravenous administration, adhering to Trust policies relating to medicine management, health and safety and infection control.
Prepare and receive reports from staff which demonstrate good communication and working relationships.
Maintain and enhance skills in neonatal resuscitation
