Job summary
This is an exciting time for the Dermatology Unit at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS rust. An opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse post, within our established Dermatology team. Our dynamic, motivated team of nurses work across our trust sites to provide the highest standards of evidence-based care to patients and relatives. This post will provide expert care for patients' with acute and chronic long term skin conditions while guiding development and planning of service delivery for this patient group. This clinically based role which also includes leadership and management of the department and staff and is an ideal opportunity for junior dermatology nurses.to extend their role further We are looking for self- motivated, enthusiastic nurses with experience in Dermatology services who are keen to further develop their knowledge and skills, and who will welcome the exciting and varied opportunities this role will provide. A nurse prescribing or minor surgery qualification will be beneficial or a willingness to complete either within 12 months of commencement of the role is required
Main duties of the job
Once competent performs lower risk, less invasive skin surgery procedures or disease or therapy focused nurse led follow up clinics with protocol e.g., wound care, biologics, isotretinoin. Leader of a small team Shows initiative in change management. Active participant in quality improvement projects Formal teaching sessions for other staff within the organisation Involvement in patient/public information initiatives Awareness of the literature around practice Updates guidance and competencies for the department in line with Trust governance procedures Manages the staff roster, assists with management of staff absences and appraisals Undertaking audit and research Supervise and coordinate Consultant led Outpatient services. Manage nurse led treatment and phototherapy clinics.
