Dietitian

The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust

The closing date is 18 May 2025

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Nutrition and Dietetic department at the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, and we are looking for a passionate and motivated individual to join our team as a General Dietitian. Whether you are a newly qualified dietitian, an experienced dietitian seeking a new challenge, or a dietitian returning to practice, we would love to hear from you! As a member of our team, you will gain invaluable experience across a diverse range of dietetic specialities including elderly care, respiratory medicine, general medicine and general surgery.

Main duties of the job

This is a full time role that offers the opportunity to work across all three of our hospital sites: Pinderfields Hospital, Dewsbury & District Hospital, and Pontefract Hospital. Your main base will be at Pinderfields Hospital. As a general Dietitian, your main focus will be delivering high-quality, patient centred nutritional care across a variety of acute clinical settings. You will be responsible for providing nutrition support on the wards, including both oral and enteral nutritional interventions. In addition, you will run a weekly general outpatient clinic, supporting patients across the Wakefield and North Kirklees ICB. We are committed to supporting your professional development and offer a range of CPD activities. You will also have the opportunity to enhance your leadership and supervisory skills by mentoring dietetic students and non-clinical members of staff. Success in this role requires a flexible and proactive approach, strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. A solid foundation in nutrition support is essential. Please note, if you are invited to interview, these will be held in person only.

About us

We are an acute trust caring for over one million people in Wakefield and Kirklees. Our 10,000 staff members work in patients homes, the community, and our three hospitals in Pontefract, Dewsbury, and Pinderfields (Wakefield). Committed to continuous improvement, we prioritise our people and values so we can deliver excellent patient experience. Our team is friendly, passionate and always seeking better ways to work through research and innovation. We support work-life balance and foster a diverse, inclusive environment where everyone belongs. Our staff networks offer safe spaces for honest conversations and to share ideas, thoughts and concerns so we can increase awareness and appreciation of equality, diversity, and inclusion. As a member of the team, you will have access to the NHS pension plan, a generous holiday allowance, employee health and wellbeing services and extensive benefits and support. These include onsite nurseries, childcare vouchers, car lease and home electronics schemes, working carers support, carer-friendly policies, and more. If you value caring, high standards, improvement, and respect, join the MY team to make a difference every day.
