Macmillan CNS Gynaecology/ Oncology Team Leader

Job summary

Mid Yorkshires NHS Teaching Trust is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic lead for our gynaecology oncology CNS team. The CNS team provides support to our gynaecology oncology patients during clinics, by phone and as inpatients. Providing much needed support to patients during and following their cancer journey. The lead will be influential in service improvement and improving cancer waiting times. They will work closely with the oncology consultants, cancer care leads, Matron, PSM team and wider MDT team driving change and improvement within the service. Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will develop a high level of clinical decision making, monitor and improve standards of care, working within their advanced scope of professional practice. They will lead clinical care by managing a patient caseload providing expert assessment, planning and evaluation. they will Co-ordinate and manage nurse-led clinics (within Speciality/service). and Contribute towards a multi-professional approach in the management of patients within the specialist area, especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements. The post holder will support patients and their families and ensure that they receive the required information to enable them to self-manage, lead or participate in their care delivery and , assist and encourage the multi-disciplinary team in resolving patient problems, by the provision of new and innovative models of case management. The successful candidate will work with the Matron to promote the development of nurses undertaking the CNO Ten Key Roles as considered appropriate e.g. Nurse Prescribing. They will undertake nurse led clinics for end of treatment and holistic needs assessment and undertake nurse led clinical diagnosis of cancer , to agreed local guidelines and protocols
