The Division of Families and Clinical Support Services have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual join maternity services as an Acute Maternity Services Team Leader. We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills as the role requires liaison with Managers, Consultants, front line clinical colleagues, patients and external colleagues on a regular basis. Please note: this post is for 6 months to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

To liaise and communicate with patients, staff, external agencies, allied professionals and consultants to the department in person, over the telephone, in writing and by e-mail as appropriate. These communications may be confidential and of a highly sensitive and complex distressing nature as per Trust Information Governance Policy. To establish and maintain good relationships with other departments/directorates and clinicians. Provide administrative support to the Matrons and in the acute maternity areas. To attend speciality meetings to provide information to ensure service targets are met and capacity gaps / demand requirements are escalated. Resolve issues/concerns with individual members of staff, which may be of a highly delicate, complex and personal nature and require expertise and understanding to handle, liaising with the HR team when necessary. To provide Trust Team briefings to staff to keep them informed of departmental and Trust news. Co-ordinating/managing staffs workload as per service requirement and escalating where necessary. To ensure that all staff are aware of and know where to find, access and follow all relevant Trust procedures and policies. To coordinate annual leave, sickness or other absence. To participate in the recruitment, training, appraisal and general discipline of staff employed within the clerical workforce. Identify changes in working practices that are
