Mid Yorkshire Teaching
NHS Trust is pleased to announce a 3 month post within the Department of
Urology. This post is to commence on
5th February 2025 until 5th May 2025. The post holder will work on
the 1:8 on call rota in Urology at core surgical trainee level.
These
posts will suit trainees who wish to gain exposure to Urology. The post has arisen to cover a short-term gap
in the rota.
This
post offers the opportunity for the applicant to develop clinical skills in
urology and gain experience in other areas such as audit and quality/service
improvement.
The post will include
training in competencies appropriate to the appointee level of training.
The post
holder will need to have evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies,
via current employment in a UKFPO-affiliated foundation programme or evidence
of achievement of foundation competencies at the time of application. Only a
valid FPCC (FACD 5.2), or alternative certificate of foundation competence will
be accepted as evidence.
The post
holder should have worked within the NHS for a minimum of 6 months in any
medical or surgical speciality including general practice.
The post
holder will be expected to work standard day shifts, long days shifts and night shifts on weekdays and weekends based
on 1:8 rota pattern.
Main duties of the job
Post holder will be required to provide a range of services and will be
encouraged to undertake continuing medical education, and study leave will be
available as per the Trust policy. The
post holder will have the opportunity to attend departmental teaching every
week.
The post holders will work in collaboration with and
under the direction of the Consultants and other members of the teams in the
day-to-day management of patients within the service.
Post holders will be based at Pinderfields Hospital in
Wakefield with potential peripheral sessions at Dewsbury District Hospital and
Pontefract Hospital.
The post holder will work in
collaboration with and under the direction under of the Consultants and other
members of the teams in the day-to-day management of patients within the
service. Duties primarily include:-

Ward rounds

Pre- and post-operative care of patients on the wards

Emergency and On call
-
Assisting Consultants and Resident Trainees in the operating
theatre

Attend out-patient clinics.
The rota is
compliant with working time regulations and the 2016 junior doctors contract.
During their tenure the post holder will further
develop their core generic skills and contribute to the education and training
of the wider healthcare workforce.

The Basic salary for this role is £49,909 per annum.

to engage with the process of revalidation on an annual basis.
All our Trust appointed doctors are required to engage positively with
appraisal and revalidation. The Trust
has procedures that comply with national recommendations. As a Trust employed doctor on a fixed term
contract successfully appointed applicants will need to have a prescribed

Continuing Professional Development
The Trust requires all its doctors to
engage with continuing professional development, guided by the relevant

which all relevant staff must complete as required.
Research
Medical staff are encouraged to develop areas of personal and/or research
interest. This can be developed in
liaison with the Trusts R&D department and in line with prevailing
policies and research frameworks. The
Trust is developing an expanding and outward-looking research programme.
Educational & Clinical Supervision
The post holder will have a named educational
supervisor and be expected to hold regular meetings with them during their
tenure to ensure appropriate development during their appointment.
Teaching
The Trust is keen to maintain its
reputation for high quality training and to attract the highest calibre of
trainee and career-grade doctors. All
senior doctors are involved in training our doctors, students and other
professions.
Audit and Clinical Governance
There is a rolling half-day clinical
governance programme, and the audit meetings are well attended and are highly
