Job summary
This post is offered on a full time (10 PA) basis although less than full time applications will be considered for a fixed term of 12 months. This post represents an exciting opportunity to join a group of dynamic Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons in providing a wide range of elective orthopaedic services and trauma services to the population of approximately 400,000 in the Wakefield and Kirklees area of Yorkshire. Duties will be based primarily on our Trauma Unit (Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield) site and Elective Orthopaedic Surgical Hub (Pontefract Hospital) - although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a 12-month Locum Consultant Locum Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics with an interest in Adult Trauma + Hand & Wrist Surgery to join our team of 24 Orthopaedic Consultants providing a range of acute and elective services. The post is predominantly focused on Upper Limb Surgery and the candidate should have a sub speciality interest in Hand & Wrist surgery, and ideally will have completed a one year fellowship scheme focusing on this sub-specialty. The candidate must also be able to demonstrate in depth training in trauma surgery. The post will be mainly based at Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals however the appointed consultant must be willing to work at the other hospital site (Dewsbury Hospital).
