Job summary

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to announce a vacancy aimed at doctors at any level of training, who are passionate about their practice and their career outside traditional models. We will tailor the job to suit individuals training requirements. Our post will combine education and career development with practical patient-facing care. This post is not recognised UK training post. However, the post-holders will have a named supervisor, and be supported, in undertaking scheduled educational opportunities within the Trust and specialties. An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated doctor, to join our Plastic Surgery Department from August 2026 for a 6-month period. The post holder may be offered an extension provided satisfactory progress based on consultant feedback and documented progress on ISCP portfolio. The post holders will be expected to work on the 1:8 registrar on call rota. Depending on the level of experience, we will endeavour to tailor the post to allow all necessary competences, to be achieved. For less experienced trainees we will help trainees to achieve required competences for national selection at ST3 level. More senior trainees will be given the opportunity to develop their skills in their chosen sub-specialties. The Trust reserves the right to close this vacancy early should a significant number of applications be received. To meet the requirements of this role, applicants must demonstrate the following essential criteria:

  • Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
  • Medical Degree from recognised medical school
  • MRCS or recognised equivalent
  • Successful completion of post registration training
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Minimum experience equivalent to CT2/ST2 in Plastic Surgery (4 years full time post graduate training or part time equivalent)
  • Minimum 12 months plastics surgery experience at CT level
  • Proven experience in acute hospital setting
  • Sound knowledge and experience in the management of critically ill patients
  • At least 6 months recent experience in the NHS
  • Evidence of an interest in Audit and Research
  • Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Possesses good communication skills
