Job summary
Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to announce a vacancy aimed at doctors at any level of training, who are passionate about their practice and their career outside traditional models. We will tailor the job to suit individuals training requirements. Our post will combine education and career development with practical patient-facing care. This post is not recognised UK training post. However, the post-holders will have a named supervisor, and be supported, in undertaking scheduled educational opportunities within the Trust and specialties. An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated doctor, to join our Plastic Surgery Department from August 2026 for a 6-month period. The post holder may be offered an extension provided satisfactory progress based on consultant feedback and documented progress on ISCP portfolio. The post holders will be expected to work on the 1:8 registrar on call rota. Depending on the level of experience, we will endeavour to tailor the post to allow all necessary competences, to be achieved. For less experienced trainees we will help trainees to achieve required competences for national selection at ST3 level. More senior trainees will be given the opportunity to develop their skills in their chosen sub-specialties. Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post will include: Provision of care with responsibility for the management of patients with acute and chronic conditions including complex cases. Referral of patients to other specialities as appropriate Out-patient activities/clinics Involvement in specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings Involvement in relevant administration duties Teaching and supervision of resident medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate Active involvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvement activities Please see the attached full job description for an example weekly timetable.
