Main duties of the job

Provision of anaesthetic care, both acute and elective, with responsibility for the management of patients with acute and chronic conditions. The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to announce the introduction of these new roles aimed at doctors who are passionate about their practice and their career, and those who require temporary posts outside traditional models. Our posts will combine education and career development with practical patient-facing care. They would particularly suit individuals looking to increase their anaesthetic experience prior to applying for specialty training or at the end of training prior to applying for consultant posts.

These posts are not recognised UK training posts but will be treated as a trainee equivalent. MYDoc doctors will have a named supervisor and be supported in undertaking scheduled educational opportunities to consolidate and develop alongside their experiential learning, with certificated outcomes or credentialing to support career progression.

Regional Post. Our department has a number of experienced teachers of regional anaesthesia and a broad range of surgical specialties (plastics, burns, trauma and orthopaedics). This post would provide regular lists with the opportunity to develop a wide portfolio of regional anaesthetic techniques under expert supervision.

Simulation. With a busy department, we hold regular multi-disciplinary training sessions to improve the care in emergency scenarios or in rare conditions. As well as providing service commitment for Obstetric or Acute anaesthesia, this post would focus on working with the consultant anaesthetic team to help deliver this simulation training programme.

Full GMC Registration with licence to practise

Medical Degree from recognised medical school

Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences or equivalent in line with GMC standards/Good medical practice

Completion of CT2 post or equivalent in Anaesthesia

Certificate of completion of initial competencies in obstetric anaesthesia

Eligibility to work in the UK

Pre-registration / foundation training and at least one year in a relevant specialty in an NHS Trust or with equivalent experience from overseas.

At least 2 years experience in Anaesthetics or Intensive Care Medicine

Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.

Good time management.
