This is an exciting and innovative post to provide clinical care to people of Doncaster who are involved in sex work.
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to take the role of Mental Health Practitioner, the role will focus on delivering specialist mental health support within this marginalised client group, The role will involve organising mental health drop-in sessions, street outreach, signposting, service navigation and working collaborative with partners who support people involved in sex work.
The post holder will provide appropriate emotional and practical support, working within a harm reduction framework, you will be supporting people in safer working practices and providing access to sexual health services.
The post holder will provide an assessment and a care management to people involved in sex work and have mental health needs, using an assertive outreach approach. The post holder will hold a caseload of patients with complex mental health needs and work with them according to recovery and personalisation principles.
The role will include working with high levels of risk and with people with enduring trauma. The role incorporates a willingness to work outside of traditional boundaries, traditional 9 - 5 hours (on occasions), to ensure engagement with this community and the the service is meeting the needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker to join our newly developing team as a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner. The right candidate will be enthusiastic, compassionate and a highly organised individual who is able to provide high quality care, assessment, and treatment.
The post holder will be aligned to the newly developing Mental Health Homeless Team and will support people who are involved in sex work, have complex challenges and in unsuitable or unsafe accommodation.
The post holder will be person centred, able to deliver personalised risk management and a range of therapeutic interventions. The success candidate will demonstrate a keen interest and general understanding of working with people involved in sex work and the unique challenges that this presents, they will support people to establish a level of stability to engage in trauma-informed-care. The care delivery will incorporate a proactive approach in a variety of settings, such as hostels, temporary accommodation, community organisations, on the streets to improve outcomes for people. The post holder will be expected to liaise with partner agencies to ensure a whole system approach to delivering care is adopted.
Importantly the post holder will advocate for people involved in sex work, challenging discrimination, exclusion and stigma both for individuals and within the wider community.

- Registered qualification in either - Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work
- To be a member of the relevant professional body (NMC, HCPC, Social Work England) and to abide by their code of conduct and RDaSH trust policies and procedures
Experience

- Extensive and appropriate demonstrable clinical experience working in a Mental Health setting
- Clinical experience of working with people that have complex substance misuse and physical health challenges as well as mental health needs
- Clinical experience of working with individuals that have complex needs and requires a multi-agency approach
- Supervision and training of students/junior members of staff
