Job summary
We are recruiting an Assistant Psychologist to work within the CAMHS Community Eating Disorders Team.
The post will support and enhance the professional care of clients within the service across all sectors of care; providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures
Main duties of the job
To provide one to one therapy to children with sensitive, emotional and psychological issues, which requires empathy, training, reassurance and motivational skills. This is supervised on a weekly basis by a clinical psychologist via an hour long meeting, as stipulated by the British Psychological Society guidelines.
To conduct psychometric testing, using specific psychological tools as part of the assessment procedure. Once carried out, these tests are scored and analysed within the role of this job
To conduct and design group therapy sessions to cater for the client group, in a sensitive manner
To communicate complex and sensitive information empathically and to adapt language when addressing different situations, such as relating information to parents and to children
To plan individual sessions and researches new possible skills that may benefit a client. Must also have the ability to adjust these plans if the client broaches an incompatible topic within the session
