Job summary

As an HCPC registered Allied Health professional, reporting to the Getting Help Pathway Lead, you will develop and provide Arts Therapy individually using your own arts therapy modality and line manage and clinically supervise trainees and junior members of staff as appropriate.

As part of the Getting Help pathway you will be working with children and young people with complex mental health needs, you will work as an integrated and collaborative team member upholding the Trust values, and maintaining a holistic approach to promote effective functioning of the team and patient-centred care of service users.

Main duties of the job

  • To plan, provide and develop patient-centred Arts Therapies including assessment, treatment and evaluation of individual and group work using own Arts Therapies modality.
  • Evaluate work on an ongoing basis with an emphasis on using appropriate service user reported experience and outcome measures to measure and demonstrate effectiveness.
  • Plan and develop Arts Therapies, including individual and group work in liaison the pathway lead and psychological therapy colleagues
  • Assess referred service users, plan and deliver Arts Therapies interventions, taking into account risk factors, and complexity of presentation, service user's need, and service priorities.
  • Use own clinical skills to contribute to the overall treatment and personal recovery goals for the service user during and beyond Arts Therapies input.
  • Where required by the Multi-disciplinary team, facilitate reflective practice, joint assessments and joint working.
  • Contribute own knowledge from assessment and treatment to the overall care plan for each service user through contribution to complex case meetings and multi-agency meetings as appropriate.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A professional Nursing qualification or Occupational Therapist qualification or Social Worker with current registration

Desirable

  • Specialist Qualification in CBT, FT or other appropriate therapy Degree or equivalent
  • A qualification, or have undertaken a program of formal training in Clinical Supervision

Experience

  • Demonstrable post qualification experience, including experience of working with young people with complex mental health problems and working with children and families in particular.

  • Currently engaged in an advanced level of practice and able to demonstrate a degree of professional autonomy
