Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Estates to join the RDaSH team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing day to day leadership to the Estates team, ensuring the directorate provides high quality information and support to enable the delivery of the Trust's community focused strategy and associated promises.

The Head of Estates is a key member of the Trust's senior leadership team, responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and delivery of high-quality estates and sustainability services across the Trust. This role ensures that the built environment supports excellent patient care, staff wellbeing, and operational efficiency.

We are looking to appoint an experienced, innovative and compassionate leader who can demonstrate their commitment to continuous development of estate colleagues, systems and processes, whilst ensuring the voice of our community and excluded groups is reflected in all that we do.

You will provide strategic and inclusive leadership and direction to the Estates Directorate and will be accountable to the Director of Finance and Estates for the overall day-to-day performance of the directorate.

As the Head of Estates, you will lead on the delivery of a high quality, effective, proactive and professional estates function. You will support the development of the capability and capacity to provide and interpret high quality estate, financial and procurement information within the directorate and the wider Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the Trust's Estates Strategy aligned with clinical and corporate objectives, including capital investment, disposals and acquisitions, sustainability, and net-zero targets.

Operational Oversight: Lead the delivery of estates maintenance, capital projects, waste management, energy management and compliance with statutory and regulatory standards.

Capital Projects: Oversee the planning and execution of major capital developments, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Sustainability and Net Zero: Champion the Trust's Green Plan and environmental sustainability agenda, driving innovation and compliance with NHS net-zero commitments.

Governance and Compliance: Ensure robust systems are in place for health and safety, fire safety, infection prevention, and statutory compliance across all sites.

Financial Management: Manage significant budgets effectively, ensuring value for money and financial sustainability in estates operations.

Leadership and Culture: Inspire and lead a large, multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement: Work collaboratively with clinical leaders, local authorities, ICS partners, and external contractors to deliver integrated and patient-centred services.
