Trainee High Intensity Therapist (CBT)

As a trainee High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist you will gain the opportunity to learn and work alongside team highly skilled and diverse therapists.

In this role, you will provide High Intensity CBT interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training which commences in March 2026 in collaboration with the University of Hull. The post is full time 37.5 hours. This training post will equip you to deliver a range of evidence based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions to clients with a range of common mental health problems in primary care.

You will be required to attend taught and self-study days provided by the University two days a week. The remaining 3 days of the week you will work at the North Lincs Talking Therapies service.

This role is fixed term for 12 months, which will become a permanent band 7 High intensity CBT post on successful completion of the course within the time frame specified.

Please note that this is not a remote only post. You will be required to deliver face to face interventions at the office base as part of the training course.

There will be a joint interview with Hull University - date to be confirmed.

Main duties of the job

Candidates must have a first degree in an allied discipline (usually Psychology) in order to be considered.

Candidates from a PWP background must have been qualified as a PWP for more than two years by the course start date in order to meet national expectations.

Candidates are unable to progress through the recruitment process if they are already registered on a Health Education England (HEE) funded programme.

Candidates must either meet one of the following BABCP core mental health profession requirements:

  • Arts Therapists
  • Counselling
  • Medicine
  • Registered Nurse
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Psychotherapy/Psychotherapeutic Counselling
  • Social Work
  • Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology
  • Educational Psychology
  • Health Psychology
  • Forensic Psychology

OR

Applicants who do not have a core profession must complete a KSA portfolio by the end of the first module.A partially completed portfolio should be presented prior to interview with statements included for all sections. Supporting evidence and signatures will not be required at interview.

The partially completed KSA portfolio should be made available to the university prior to the interview and the successful applicant will receive feedback to assist with the portfolio completion after interview.
