Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Applied Psychologist to join our new High Dependency Rehabilitation Unit. This 16-bed service is due to open in the Autumn, and will support patients for up to 12 months, providing specialist rehabilitation.
This post offers a great opportunity for an experienced senior psychologist, whose core values are based on providing high quality recovery-focussed and trauma-informed psychological support, where the patient's voice is at the centre of all care.
As part of a multi-professional leadership team, the role requires a leader who is innovative and personally motivated to work with other senior clinicians and managers to deliver high quality care to people with complex mental health difficulties. The post-holder will be responsible for developing and clinically leading the psychological offer within the unit as well as supporting the broader strategic priorities for the service.
CPD and engagement with our wider psychological professional networks is encouraged. The contributions of clinicians are valued and sought in influencing the direction of the service and leadership on relevant projects is encouraged. We also have strong links to the Sheffield University Clinical Psychology Doctorate.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve direct clinical work with individuals experiencing severe and complex mental health problems for whom individualised and creative therapeutic approaches are key. You will work alongside 2 Assistant Psychologists and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT), as well as psychological professionals and colleagues working across the rehabilitation pathway.
Some Clinical Responsibilitieso Provides highly specialist psychological assessment of patients with severe and complex conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources.o Formulates plans for highly specialist psychological therapy and/or treatment plans of patients' mental health conditions based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based practice. Negotiates the implementation of such plans with patients and/or their carers.o Implements a wide range of highly specialist psychological therapies for individual patients, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations as required.o Undertakes risk assessment and risk management for individual patients and provides highly specialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management and the high physical risks inherent in the patient group.

- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist

- Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
