Job summary
A opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Neurorehabilitation. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care/treatment, including as a non-medical prescriber to prescribe medication and evaluate its clinical effectiveness. They will supervise and support junior staff and rehabilitation assistants in the team.
Criteria include:
- Extensive post registration experience with demonstrable recent experience practising to a high level of expertise in Neurorehabilitation
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology relating to clinical area.
- Up to date professional portfolio which will demonstrate reflective practice and evidence of on-going professional development/education
- Independent prescribing qualification (V300)
Main duties of the job
Design treatment plans for complex patients
Plans, develops, implements and evaluates innovative approaches to care, following an agreed pathway of care from initial diagnosis.
Influences and shapes policies and procedures locally, regionally and nationally contributing to the national agenda at regional and national level.
Initiates, monitors and evaluates treatment plans for complex medication changes thereby avoiding hospital admission.
Manages a caseload of patients with neurorehabilitation needs
Provides expert advice to GPs, pharmacists, practice nurses and hospital based clinicians .
