An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, enthusiastic and innovative individual to join RDASH Talking Therapies. We have 4 positions available within NHS Talking Therapies service within the Rotherham, Doncaster and Scunthorpe areas.
As a trainee High Intensity Counselling for Depression Therapist you will gain the opportunity to learn and work alongside team highly skilled and diverse therapists.

Please note that this is not a remote only post and you will be required to have a minimum of 2 days face-to-face clinics when training and a minimum of 3 face-to-face days clinic when qualified.
There will be a joint service and University of York St John interview on the week commencing 11th August 2025.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will provide High Intensity Counselling for Depression interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training which commences in October 2025 in collaboration with the University of York St John. The post is full time 37.5 hours.
The training will introduce you to the core concepts of the PCE-CfD approach and its application within IAPT. The 5 day training includes opportunities to practice relevant skills within the training group. This will be followed by a period of supervised clinical work. There will be a 1 year post attendance on the course where assessment recordings must be submitted.
On successful completion of the course you will be expected to work towards and maintain full accreditation with the BABCP.
This role is fixed term for 12 months, which will become a permanent band 7 High intensity Counselling post on successful completion of the course.

Qualifications
Essential
- Diploma in humanistic or person centred counselling or psychotherapy.
- A minimum two-year post-graduate (or equivalent) qualification in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Psychotherapy, Counselling, or Counselling Psychology, comprising no less than 450 hours programme contact AND no less than 450 hours supervised counselling or psychotherapy practice (including hours gained after core training).
- One or more NHS Talking Therapies specified counselling or psychotherapy accreditations (as detailed in the NHS Talking Therapies Manual)
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
Desirable
- Evidence of successful completion of training in one or more of the following specialist trainings in NICErecommended time limited psychological therapies for depression, with the required training and individual accreditation to deliver the modality as specified by the NHS Talking Therapies Manual
- Evidence of post qualification training in clinical supervision
