Job summary
The post holder will be working with a large multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, social workers and psychologists, psychotherapists and creative therapists. The team consists of approximately 42 wte split as 34 wte clinicians and 8 wte admin staff. A number of staff are trained in CBT, theraplay and family interventions, parenting and attachment work. There is a dedicated ADHD diagnostic and treatment team.
It is expected that the Consultant will have approximately 2-3 patient related contacts per clinical session. These may include review appointments (face to face or remotely), therapeutic treatment appointment, Multiagency meetings or CPA reviews, consultations with other clinicians or professionals about specific patients, clinical supervision regarding specific patients.
Consultant Offices are at Kimberworth Place (Rotherham), The Crystal Building (Doncaster), and St Nicholas House (Scunthorpe) (locations as at March 2025.) The majority of non-remote clinical work will be done from these bases. Other clinical work may be carried out in a variety of settings including other clinics, Children Centre's, GP surgeries and in hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to work alongside the current team leaders; jointly providing medical leadership to the team. The postholder is expected to support with assessment, supervision, and the management of children and young people under the age of 18 (19 if eating disorder).
The post holder will also support liaison with secondary and primary care colleagues and reviewing/developing protocols to ensure effective and efficient service delivery and joint working with partner agencies, including the acute Trusts, and the voluntary sector. The post holder will be a member of the multidisciplinary team and have support of other team members in the management of patient under the care of the service.
The post holder will work with the acute Trusts and mental health/specialist eating disorder inpatient units in the event of patients needing admission to hospital, to ensure smooth transition to different levels of care. This will consist of attending, where appropriate, CPA meetings, transfer of care meetings, and advising and planning the delivery of a community care package at patient discharge meetings.
The post holder will largely be contributing by providing paediatric clinical advice and support with liaison to other paediatricians for the cases held within the team as a whole.
