Job summary

We are excited about a newly commissioned Systemic Family Therapist or Psychotherapist role in North Lincolnshire community mental health services. We are passionate about including families and networks in the care we offer. We hope this new role will enhance the therapeutic support we offer to the people and families we serve in North Lincolnshire.

You will deliver specialist psychological / systemic assessments and therapy, for individuals, couples, groups, families and teams, as well as provide highly specialised case consultation and supervision to professionals. The role will combine both direct clinical work with clients and families, as well as supervision to enhance the confidence and skills of your colleagues providing family inclusive interventions.

You will join a group of supportive and innovative psychological professionals within North Lincolnshire. There is opportunity for peer support and supervision with fellow systemic family therapists within the organisation. RDaSH provides a mandatory half day per month to focus on continued professional development and learning.

Please note the successful candidate will start in the role in October 2025.

Main duties of the job

You will be accountable for your own professional practice in undertaking specialist assessment, formulation, and therapeutic intervention methods for individuals, couples, family systems and groups with psychological, emotional or mental health conditions across North Lincolnshire Community Mental Health Services.

Be responsible for assessing and managing risk including in a crisis or safeguarding situation

To provide clinical supervision/reflective practice to other healthcare professionals and multi-disciplinary team members, as appropriate and where trained to do so.

To attend and contribute to MDTs, for instance to provide case consultation, share formulations, offer advice and training.

To be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.

Where appropriate to undertake formal research / service.

To be pro-active in continual service improvement.

To promote, at all times, a positive image of people with mental health difficulties, the psychology service and wider Trust and to act as an advocate ensuring there is proper regard for people's dignity, choice, self-esteem and racial, cultural, sexual and religious needs and preferences.

Essential

  • Training in Counselling, Forensic or Clinical Psychology at Doctoral level (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) Or holding a core Profession (e.g. registered mental health nurse, social worker, Occupational therapist, psychologist etc) plus an accredited Master's degree training / professional qualification in family and systemic psychotherapy (4 yrs MSc level).
  • Evidence of CPD.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver assessment and treatment with individuals, couples and families experiencing a variety of mental health conditions.
  • Experience of delivering group work.
  • Experience of clinical supervision, reflective practice and/or case consultation to multi-disciplinary team members.
  • Registered with appropriate core professional body, e.g., HCPC /Registration as a Systemic Psychotherapist with UKCP & Membership of the AFT.
