Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join RDaSH as a Community Phlebotomist as part of a newly created team. The phlebotomist will work closely with the community services and visit housebound patients in their own home or care home to collect venous blood samples and or samples and take basic observations when required. under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse.
The Phlebotomist will work in a variety of settings including patients in their own homes and residential care homes.
Phlebotomy and community experience desirable but not essential.
The Phlebotomy service will operate 7 day working and hours between 07.30-6pm.
If you don't already have a Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 2apprenticeship qualification [relevant to your role].
As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work-related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive.
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

Main duties of the job
The Phlebotomist will work in a variety of settings visiting patients in their own homes and residential homes to obtain venous samples.
The Phlebotomist will be expected to become proficient and competent in their area of practice by undertaking competency assessments specific to the area of clinical practice.
The Phlebotomist will promote optimum independence and individualised patient centred care to a delegated caseload.
The Phlebotomist will undertake where required basic clinical observations such as blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, oxygen saturation and weight.
