Job summary

The role of the Long Covid Dr will be to support the qualified therapy professionals and contribute to the implementation, and delivery of care within the service.

The Long COVID Service was set up in January 2021. It is an assessment and interventional programme which is therapy led and offers a range of treatment including fatigue management, occupational rehabilitation, tai chi and relaxation, counselling, physical activity, pain management, education, and respiratory physiotherapy. Treatment is offered in group and individual settings in clinics, gyms and at patients' homes.

The team have seen positive outcomes and excellent patient feedback as a service. We were highly commended for Clinical Team of the Year and have won Partnership Working and Innovation awards at Trust level. We were also nominated for a HSJ Award for Community Initiative of the Year. The service continues to develop and evolve and having ongoing Dr input would enhance this ongoing development of the pathway.

Main duties of the job

You would be expected to;

- Work 1 or 2 half days per month (1- 2 sessions, flexible depending on applicant)

- Lead an MDT with clinicians discussing complex patients

- Assess and review patients where necessary to offer advice, treatment, and support

- Liaise with patients GP's or clinical specialities to facilitate onward referral or review

- Review symptom specific investigations where appropriate (i.e. bloods and ECG)

- Contribute to service development and learning discussions

- Facilitate dissemination of service information to GP colleagues

- Potential to prescribe within the pathway
