Job summary

Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust are seeking to recruit a Children and Young People's Clinical Psychologist. The post holder will be employed by RDASH CAMHS Psychology Service and be based in the newly established RMBC Childrens Support for Change team. The Clinical Psychologist shall be employed by RDaSH receiving clinical line management, and work with RDaSH's contract of employment policies and procedures.

The post will support the newly established Support for Change team within Rotherham Childrens Services and support and facilitate close working relationships between Childrens social care and CAMHs.

The primary responsibility of the role is to provide clinical support to the service including: clinical supervision to a small number of staff, clinical advice to the team managers, work with practitioners to formulate programs of support based on need, and provide clinical oversight and guidance for the service. They will case hold a small number of children with more complex needs and supervision a small number of psychologist students.

To meet the high ambition for Children's Services two teams have integrated to create one service (Therapeutic team and Edge of Care team). This consolidates the therapeutic response to children, young people, and their families under one title - Support for Change team.

Main duties of the job

ABOUT THE SERVICE

The team provides a range of support, using a wide variety of skills, knowledge, and experience. The vision is to have a one team approach, offering a range of support options, under one line management structure but with a clear link to CAMHs, and a single point of access through a weekly panel to ensure that children and families that we work with are receiving the most appropriate support in a timely way. The vision for the service is to support children remaining in their families, remaining in family placements, reduce placement breakdowns and reduce escalations to external placements, through meeting their therapeutic needs. This role will be pivotal and a key link between Childrens services and CAMHS, and partners.

  • Can provide clinical oversight to staff of different levels and backgrounds
  • Has excellent problem-solving and motivational skills
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to create clear and concise reports
  • Ability to explain complex issues to people with little or no specialist knowledge
  • Excellent patience and empathetic skills
  • Strong interests in children's social care and children in care, healthcare, and mental health
