Job summary

Further to the recent clinical leadership restructure within the Trust, we are now very pleased to be recruiting to 10 Lead Medic Roles across five Care Groups (see below):

  5. Children's Care Group - Mental Health
  6. Doncaster Mental Health Care Group - LD & Forensics

  8. Doncaster Mental Health Care Group - Acute
  9. North Lincolnshire Mental Health Care Group - Community
  10. North Lincolnshire Mental Health Care Group - Acute

There is a further Lead Medic role, in the Physical Health Care Group (LTC), which will be open to local GP principals to apply for.

This role is key to ensure there is a close professional relationship between the senior leadership structure, the CG medical director, other care group directors and the Consultant group.

You will form a key part of the new clinical leadership structure, reporting to the Care Group Medical Director with whom you will have a close working relationship, making a positive impact on how services in your care group is delivered and monitored, and forging transparent professional relations hips with your consultant and other health professional colleagues.

The PA is individually negotiable within the appointees job plan.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a collaborative, visible, inclusive and compassionate doctor with values and behaviours that inspire understanding and trust, build inclusion and reduce inequalities.

Each role will be different but is expected that as a minimum the successful candidate will, together with the other leads in the directorate:

Provide clinical advice to the directorate leadership team.

Provide advice on the recruitment and retention of medics to thedirectorate, including supporting professional development.

Provide advice of mental health legislation to the directorate whererelevant.

Be a visible and approachable point of contact to trainees and medicalstudents in the directorate.

Undertake one or two specific service improvement projects within thedirectorate, potentially alongside primary care, in any given year.

It is expected that each medical lead will work with the Care Group Medical Director to develop a bespoke job plan for this part of their job.

This will involve working on specific leadership projects within the directorate or beyond and these will be based on the Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability of the CGMD (See CGMD Job Plan - Appendix 1)

It is expected that the successful candidate will become a medical appraiser within their first year in post andwill assist the CGMD with jobplanning and with some aspects of the line management of doctors in their directorate although this remains the ultimate responsibility off the CGMD.
