Assistant Psychologist

Job summary
We are currently looking to recruit two full time Assistant Psychologists to work across the Rotherham Primary and Community Mental Health teams in Rotherham. A significant focus of these roles is to be involved in the delivery of therapeutic groups, mainly those for Trauma Stabilisation and Emotional Coping Skills. In addition to these groups, we have an extensive programme where we also deliver groups for anxiety, mood disorders (using Acceptance and Commitment therapy), Compassion Focused Therapy and coping with voices. The roles will also involve working with individuals to deliver one to one interventions aimed at stabilisation and coping skills with those individuals where a group setting would not be appropriate. There would also be opportunities to be involved in service evaluation and research projects within our teams. We have a committed and enthusiastic team of people working into these pathways and we are looking for two highly motivated, enthusiastic, organised and compassionate Assistant Psychologists to be part of our team to meet the needs of service users.
In Rotherham we have a growing team of supportive, compassionate and value-driven Psychological Professions who are passionate about providing high quality clinical care to service users and influencing the wider delivery of care through the support of the locality teams.
Main duties of the job
The post holders will have experience of working within Mental Health services and ideally in delivering groups and will be eligible for graduate membership of the BPS. They will have knowledge and an understanding of complex mental health difficulties and of the challenges faced by people with mental health problems, particularly those with experiences of trauma and where they may have difficulties in interpersonal relationships.
In your application form, in your supporting information, we would like you to discuss a recent experience of running a group and what you have learnt from it.
The successful candidates will receive management supervision from the team manager and clinical supervision from a Senior Clinical Psychologist.
We reserve the right to close the advert early should there be a high number of applicants.
