Job summary
The exciting new posts has arisen from the development of an innovative nurse-led service for Older People Mental Health, who supports people aged 65 and over who are experiencing mental health difficulties. We support people who are experiencing problems such as psychosis, mood disturbance and memory problems, who have related behavioural or psychological symptoms.
We are seeking two inspirational individuals to provide expert nurse leadership, advice, and clinical consultancy to nurses and multidisciplinary.
This post would ideally suit someone with a passion for working with older adults, including carers and their families and who has expertise in older people's mental health, experience of nurse prescribing, and is collegiate, innovative, and flexible in their approach.
You will join our hardworking and compassionate multi-disciplinary teams based within Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Trust. The post holder will work across 2 of the four Doncaster Localities, including Central, East, North & South. The base is negotiable and flexible working is supported.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of older people receiving mental health care. This will include organising and interpreting investigations, prescribing medicines, liaising with families and advanced care planning.
The post holder will be based in the area older person's mental health services. They will be based as part of a community team.
The post holder will be a highly competent, credible, and experienced autonomous practitioner who uses their breadth and specialist knowledge and professional visibility and advanced clinical skills across the 4 pillars of practice to support the Healthcare of the Older Person
The post holder within their practice area will be able to take a relevant history; perform a holistic mental health assessment, to establish a management plan and evaluate the progress of that plan recognising the limitations of their scope of practice. This will be carried out under the non-direct supervision of a medical mentor. They will demonstrate advanced clinical judgement and critical decision-making skills based upon evidence-based practice working across all 4 pillars of advanced clinical practice
The post-holder will work under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist for Older People.

- Non- medical prescribing (or working towards)
- Evidence of continuing personal learning and development
- Teaching and assessing qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in health related subject relevant to area of clinical expertise (or working towards)
- Education in advanced and extended roles including diagnosis of dementia or equivalent (or willingness to work towards)
