Rotherham - Trainee CAPS Position
The Children's Care Group are looking to recruit 2 CAPs into the Neurodevelopmental service. We have one CAP post in the Rotherham Neurodevelopmental pathway and the other in the Doncaster Neurodevelopmental Pathway (Autism Pathway). Clinical Associate Psychologists are new roles which have been developed in the NHS to provide greater access to psychologically informed mental health services. Clinical Associate Psychologists fill an identified skills gap between assistant psychologist and qualified clinical psychologists. They are able to practice autonomously with appropriate support, working within their scope of practice and are able to undertake individualised and psychologically informed assessments, develop associated formulations, and deliver formulation-based interventions under the supervision of a registered clinical psychologist. CAPS will be on a band 6 following qualification and will be BPS Registered (rather than HCPC accredited).
Main duties of the job
We are looking for candidates with a GBC eligible Psychology Degree (2:1 or above; if 2.2 with relevant substantial experience) previous experience of working in a health and social care setting. Successful candidates will have a desire to work with children and young people with complex needs within a multi-disciplinary team addressing physical, social and psychological needs.
The CAP Masters training is approximately 18 months, starting in September 2023 provided through The Nottingham Trent University or Plymouth University and runs through an apprenticeship programme with fees covered through the apprenticeship levy. Upon successful completion of the CAP Masters Training you will be offered a permanent Band 6 Clinical Associate Psychologist position.
