An amazing opportunity has arisen to work with a dynamic forward thinking, diabetes and endocrinology team at East Sussex NHS Trust.
Our team is expanding and we are looking to recruit a Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Nurse who is dynamic and enthusiastic about enhancing the quality of diabetes care. Who is willing to drive, champion, and defend gold standard care for people with Diabetes conditions.
We are in search for an enthusiastic candidate who is planning to extend their knowledge, skills and expertise in this field and be a part of the innovative services that we deliver. The post-holder will manage own mixed caseload of patients, primarily delivering in-patient specialist care to patients with diabetes condition alongside supporting the outpatient services.
The successful candidate will operate autonomously and become the source of expertise on this field. The post-holder will work very closely with all the members of the multi-disciplinary team which includes D &E consultants, specialist registrars, dietitians and the diabetes foot team to name a few. In addition, working closely and collaboratively with senior medical, nursing colleagues whilst supporting the junior members of the team. The post-holder should have the ability to work collaboratively at all levels and across disciplines and agencies.
Main duties of the job
The diabetes in-patient service continues to evolve in response to the increasing number of people with diabetes. Experience with in-patient diabetes care and management is desirable for this post.
The role also involves delivering education sessions to staff and patients whilst enhancing own skills in managing patients with complex Type 2 and Type 1 diabetes. The successful candidate should be able to initiate injectable therapies and be involved in Diabetes technology delivering Insulin Pumps and CGMs to name a few. Additional learning in diabetes is essential and a commitment to further learning and development is desirable. The role demands experience in clinical leadership and management and must be able to support the implementation of changes in practice.
