An amazing opportunity has arisen to work with a dynamic forward thinking, diabetes and endocrinology team at East Sussex NHS Trust.
We are looking to recruit a Band 7 Endocrine Specialist Nurse who is dynamic and enthusiastic about enhancing the quality of endocrine care. Who is willing to drive, champion, and defend gold standard care for people with endocrine conditions. The post-holder will manage own caseload of patients, performing endocrine dynamic function tests and procedures, delivering education sessions to staff and patients whilst enhancing own skills with the management of patients with endocrine conditions.
The post-holder will be a source of expertise and operate with a high degree of autonomy whilst also working closely and collaboratively with senior medical and nursing colleagues whilst supporting the junior members of the team.
The patient will be at the centre of everything you do whilst demonstrating a supportive, person-centred, and motivational approach with a 'can-do' attitude. You will be working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary teams dedicated to ensuring high quality care of people with endocrine conditions in ESHT.
You will lead the development, improvement, management, and promotion of the service ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care.
You will provide specialist education to patients including carers to facilitate the development of self-care skills and knowledge, at the time of diagnosis.
Main duties of the job
In conjunction with other members of the Diabetes & Endocrinology Team, to provide autonomous specialist endocrine care to adults who attend the Endocrinology Clinics using advanced clinical skills and knowledge of the speciality.
To provide specialist endocrine nursing advice and support to patients, their families, and carers from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment and follow-up phases of treatment and care.
They will order and undertake diagnostic function tests and perform endocrine procedures for patients with endocrine conditions and have continuing responsibility for the assessment of endocrinology patients care needs, their development, implementation and evaluation, setting high standards of care at all times.
To contribute actively and participate in the delivery of Trust-wide multi-disciplinary mandatory training and formal and informal teaching, providing support and advice.
To take accountability for own evidence-based practice, implement and add to the body of knowledge that supports nursing practice within Endocrinology.
To marshal and innovate endocrine related specialist practice, both within the Trust and through local networks.
To be involved in developing endocrine guidelines, protocols and policies for the Trust
You will need to demonstrate proven experience in operating within a complex environment, with strong influencing and engagement skills and the capability to establish credibility across all sections of the workforce.
