Job summary

Are you looking for a new and exciting role? We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join our Dietetic Team at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. This is an exciting and innovative post working within primary and secondary care across East Sussex.

The successful candidate will focus on supporting the paediatric and prescribing support dietetics teams, across a varied caseload that covers a variety of clinical conditions.

Our close knit and supportive Dietetic Department includes over 40 clinicians and associated staff working across the specialities of community nutrition support, diabetes, gastroenterology, inpatients, intensive care, oncology, paediatrics, prescribing support and rehabilitation. Our department also includes Primary Care Network (PCN) dietitians, plus our apprentice dietitians and trainee Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) dietitians. We promote and value a strong focus on health and wellbeing in our team, including through social events and activities.

Main duties of the job

You will work as an integral member of the paediatric and prescribing support dietetics teams, supporting with patient care which may include clinic appointments, group sessions and home visits. You will also play a key role in developing new resources and supporting the improvement of the dietetic service for patients.

  • An advanced / higher level apprenticeship for example AP apprenticeship or similar and / or NVQ level 4 in relevant subject or equivalent level of knowledge and experience

  • Able to demonstrate substantial experience in health and care settings including in the relevant field of work

Desirable

  • Demonstrate the values of the NHS and commitment to personal and professional development
  • Experience of working with children
  • Experience of preparing, presenting teaching sessions

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

  • Knowledge in nutrition and diet therapy and its importance.
  • Able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills
  • Able to collect and record information accurately.
  • Aware of own limitations and will seek advice from senior colleagues when required

  • Knowledge of nutritional value of different foods
  • Knowledge of dietary needs of different groups of patients
