Job summary
The department currently has 15 Consultant Paediatricians (Tier 4) with various special interest. Most work cross site to complement the service provision. A seven-day consultant of the week provides continuity. The week on take starts with handover at the departmental grand round on Wednesday Mid-day.
Tier 3 middle grade rota of 8 SAS and associate specialist with 2 Training posts (ST4-ST5) from KSS HEE deanery.
Tier 2 rota are APNP. They work long days shifts on SSPAU Kipling and some shifts at the EDGH. 3 further trainee APNP will be joining the rota when completing their training later next year.
The post holder will support Tier 1 staff are all trainees currently 1:14 rota. They are foundation year 1 & 2 doctors, GP trainees and ST1-3 paediatric speciality Trainees.
The department provides clinical training for Brighton and Sussex year 4 students during the academic year September to June.
Main duties of the job
This is a Resident Doctor post in General Paediatrics to support the inpatient service, SSPAU & level1 SCBU .
The post holder will support the Rota for 4 months due to gaps in the Rota.
The post holder will be part of a dynamic team of Paediatricians providing general paediatric services to children in East Sussex.
The post holder will be assigned a mentor/ supervisor at the start of the post .
The post holder will participate in the weekly/ monthly teaching activity in General Paediatrics.
The appointee will be based at the Conquest Hospital (the inpatient unit).

- Higher Diploma (Fellowship or Membership) of specialty college or equivalent
- Full registration with GMC
