Job summary
The Day Surgery Unit has two theatres. We have a variety of surgical specialities; carrying out day surgery procedures, such as; Gynaecology, Urology, ENT (including paediatrics), Max Fax, General Surgery and Orthopaedics. This list of activity can vary and is not exhaustive. We have designated lists to support those children or adults with severe learning disability to be able to access the tests they require for diagnostics/ treatment and those requiring Community Special Care dentistry. Within this role, it is key that you can diversify and work a combination of areas within the unit, for example, support the ward area, alongside your role. Further upskilling could be discussed and supported. If successful, you would also work in the proposed Sussex Surgical Centre (SSC), due for completion in March 2025. The project will deliver a modern, purpose-built day surgery unit which will include a pre-assessment area, four theatres, admission, recovery stage one and two, discharge space plus associated support facilities. The new unit will increase the amount of day surgery activity that takes place across the trust. There would be an expectation, if required, due to service demand to support Eastbourne main theatres, and our other ESHT sites.
