Job summary
This is an exciting new role for the organisation, recognising the valuable and unique contribution that the nurse practitioner can provide perioperatively and throughout the patients journey to enhance their experience and outcomes. The post holder will have the opportunity to help establish and shape the POP's service alongside O/T and medical teams.
During the 12 month secondment ( or FTC ) the post holder will be perioperatively assessing and treating older patients undergoing surgery at the Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne DGH
To work in partnership with the team to continually review, develop and refine pathways of care; facilitating the delivery of a robust, innovative and expert service.

To be responsible for the provision and strategic development of the Proactive Care of Older People Undergoing Surgery Team.
To work with the POP's team to deliver expert practice and highly specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of older peoples undergoing surgery.
Specialist Frailty Assessments
Preoperative Clinics and optimisation programmes of care
Post operative ward rounds and support to optimise recovery.
To lead and develop the nurse practitioner aspect of the service to meet National standards and guidelines and contribute within the multi-disciplinary team in the Proactive Care of Older People Undergoing Surgery Team.
To be responsible for planning, initiating and leading specialist audits and service evaluations, making recommendations to influence service development and clinical planning.

- Registered Nurse/Professional and hold active registration with relevant Professional body
- Degree level qualification relevant to role
- Post Graduate qualification at Masters level relevant to role to demonstrate specialist clinical and leadership skills
- Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, for example, Basic Life Support, manual handling, infection control, fire etc
- Managerial or Leadership qualification

- Restorative supervision/Professional Nurse Advocate qualification
