Eastbourne Critical Care Unit is a busy and dynamic place to work and requires a highly motivated and enthusiastic team to manage this, sometimes, challenging environment. We are an 8 bedded unit, comprising of 5 Level 3 (Intensive Care) beds and 3 Level 2 (High dependency) beds. The team is both friendly and supportive, with a strong commitment to providing a very high standard of care to all our patients and their relatives.

We are looking for a pleasant and caring Ward Clerk to join our efficient and professional team at Eastbourne District General Hospital. Ideally, you have experience of dealing with general public and be able to manage difficult situations.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will provide a comprehensive multi-faceted and wide range of administrative and clerical duties to the ward to support the Nursing and Medical staff in the smooth day-to-day running of the ward. They will be responsible for the safe-keeping and availability of all clinical records relating to patients and assist with the smooth running of the ward / department office. They will also provide general assistance in the management and adherence of Trust Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) relating to the ward area. They will be expected to answer telephone queries and greet visitors to the unit in both a professional and caring manner. The post-holder will be expected to work collaboratively with their counterparts in the Critical Care Unit at Conquest Hospital and liaise closely with the Audit Lead who oversees the Admin Team. You will be sharing the role with out current post-holder and working alternative days to them.
