Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated children's nurse who is passionate about providing high standards of care to CYP and their families within the outpatient and planned care setting. Full supportive training will be provided on induction to the successful candidate.
We are looking to appoint a paediatric staff nurse to join our recently refigured service within the children's outpatients setting. The role will be supporting the delivery of clinics including Asthma, Epilepsy, Diabetes and Bowel and Bladder. The service also supports specialist clinics from tertiary hospitals and the team undertake nurse led testing in areas such as Endocrine and Allergy. The role will be supported by a OPD and Planned care Matron.

- To be responsible for the effective running of delegated pediatric clinics within a wide range of specialties ensuring all aspects of the outpatient pathway are met to a high standard.
- To assist the Matron/Charge Nurse in the management of Outpatient Clinics, as directed.
- To assess the needs of allocated patients, implementing and evaluating programs of care without supervision, using evidence-based practice, and to ensure that documentation on patient care and observations is completed and signed. To liaise with staff internally or externally with changes to the patient's condition, treatment and needs.
- To participate in the provision of nurse led clinics in the speciality held and to hold the appropriate competency for the speciality chosen.
- To report any change in the condition of patients to the clinician or nurse in charge.
- To deal effectively with a collapsing person or other emergency situation in line with Trust policy.
- To assist the clinicians with any process and procedure necessary for the examination, investigation and treatment of patients, and to conduct these tests and investigations according to local policies.
- To obtain patient's results using computerised systems, in accordance with the Trust's data protection and confidentiality policy.
- To be responsible for updating information on clinic delay times using verbal and electronic communication.
