This job is now closed

Job summary

We are seeking to appoint Advanced Clinical Optometrists. Full or part time will be considered but we require a minimum of 3 days per week to enable full involvement in this senior role. There are currently opportunities for a bit of home working as part of the role.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, highly skilled and excellent at working in a team environment. Due to the more senior involvement in ophthalmology clinics, the post-holder is expected to help lead an area of service where appropriate, as well as being engaged in the wider work of the department including clinical governance. They will need to be highly specialised so they are able to work autonomously in ophthalmology clinics.

Main duties of the job

The role involves a varied workload, including involvement in specialist optometry roles but a strong emphasis on involvement in ophthalmology clinics with a superior level of specialist clinical training. The post demands the highest level of individual professional responsibility within clinical optometry, both in terms of breadth and depth of knowledge, skills and experience.

You should have a BSc (Hons), be registered with the General Optical Council and have sufficient previous hospital optometry/ophthalmology experience for the role along with specialist ophthalmology qualifications. Some training can be provided for the role and you will be supported by the Principal Optometrist, Deputy Head Optometrist as well as our consultant ophthalmologist colleagues.
