Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to design, develop and manage a nurse led IV iron infusion service under the supervision of a consultant haematologist. You will be working with primary and secondary care colleagues to provide a clinically effective nurse led IV Fe infusion service. You will be triaging referrals, assessing patients independently in clinic, co-ordinating treatment with day units and following up to determine the effectiveness of treatment. You will be expected to work towards becoming a prescriber in your first year so that you be fully autonomous.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the job include:
- triaging referrals from primary care and from medical and surgical specialties
- provision of four nurse led outpatient clinics (IV Fe infusion and haemochromatosis)
- providing supervision and support to units treating patients with IV Fe infusions.
- Leading the development and continuous improvement of the service.

- NMC Level one registration (degree or equivalent)
- ENB 237 or equivalent
- Diploma level qualification in relevant discipline
- Commitment to working towards nurse prescriber qualification within the first year.
- Evidence of continued professional development to Masters level or equivalent knowledge and experience
Desirable
- ENB 998 Teaching and Assessing or equivalent

- Significant among of post registration experience with a minimum of two years in at band 6 or above
