Job summary
We are excited to advertise for a newly funded post for a Faster Diagnostic Nurse within Urology based at Eastbourne District General Hospital.
This is a new post within the already well-established team and will help us to focus and deliver towards the 28-day Cancer standards within the department.
Main duties of the job
This role will provide dedicated support to our patients during the early stages of their diagnostics for suspected cancer.
This is a key position within the multidisciplinary team, working in conjunction with and not limited to - working with Consultants, Cancer Nurse Specialists, Diagnostic teams, Service Managers, Cancer Management Team, Patient Pathway Trackers. Excellent levels of communication and ability to build strong working relationships are required for this role.
The post holder will be involved in reviewing current patient pathways and will liaise with the forementioned teams, to ensure
patients pathways are met in a timely manner. The post holder will also lead with changes as part of service development to deliver patient care, as well as working to and looking into ways to improve the service we deliver.
The post holder will work autonomously and record clinical activity as relevant to the patient pathway. This will include diagnostic outcomes and telephone consultations with patients.

- NMC Level 1 Current Registration
- Degree / Post Graduate Diploma qualification
- ENB 998 or equivalent
- Management qualification or equivalent level of experience
- Evidence of continuous personal development to Masters level of equivalent level of knowledge and experience
Desirable
- History taking and physical assessment course
- Counselling qualification
- Leadership qualification
- Advanced communication course
Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience dealing with Urology patients
- Experience in dealing with multidisciplinary teams including senior clinicians
- Experience of working in the inpatient and or outpatient setting
