LAS ST3 + Cardiology

12 Month Fixed Term Post -

Base: Eastbourne General Hospital

At ESHT we provide a comprehensive electrophysiology service for a patient population of approximately 480,000. There are 8 consultant cardiologists within the department including 2 electrophysiologists and three current locum cardiologist posts. We perform approximately 450 EP procedures per year of which 50% were AF ablation procedures. Approximately 100 AF ablation cases are performed using cryoablation. Both CARTO (with UNIVU) and EnSite Precision mapping systems are used frequently to assist complex procedures. Both endocardial and epicardial VT ablation are performed. In the same period, there were approximately 700 device procedures, including CRT and ICDs.

There is a comprehensive PCI service with 800 cases a year and a primary PCI 24/7 service.

The Imaging department has a robust and extensive service covering all cardiac imaging modalities including a new cardiac MRI service.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for a LAS ST3+ doctor in adult cardiology. This post will be based at East Sussex. Applicants should have some cardiac experience and preferably MRCP exam.

As a trainee, the successful candidate will receive practical training and experience in all aspects of clinical cardiology. Training in echocardiography and some procedures will be provided according to the experience of the successful candidate and needs of other trainees.

A contribution to the cardiology middle grade on call rota is expected. This currently attracts a 1B banding payment for a 1:6 non-resident on-call rota.

Applicants must be in possession of the MRCP or equivalent and be on the General Medical Council's Register.
