We are keen to achieve ACSA (Anaesthetic Clinical Service accreditation) status in the future and we are currently developing an Anaesthesia Associate programme.
We have a Consultant and Nurse-led acute pain service on both sites. The use of peripheral nerve block catheters is being developed and established as routine practice for various clinical indications.
There are approximately 2800 births per annum at Conquest hospital and 250 at Eastbourne Midwifery led unit. The Anaesthetic Department provides 24-hour cover for the Obstetric Unit at Conquest Hospital. An enhanced recovery pathway is established for elective caesarean sections, and we run an in-house PROMPT course for staff.
Critical care at ESHT is expanding its bed capacity; we have started an Advanced Critical Care Practitioner programme and have an established 24/7 critical care outreach team cross-site. We have 10 years' experience with fully digital critical care patient records.
We are very active in teaching within the Trust, including simulation for anaesthetics and other specialties.Our departmental research portfolio has grown and developed over the last few years, and we have engaged in various national research projects.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will participate in the multi-disciplinary team approach to care within the speciality.
The appointee will be based primarily at Conquest Hospital including on-call duties. There will be an element of cross-site work at Eastbourne DGH.
