Job summary

We are in an exciting time of development across our East Sussex Healthcare MSK outpatient services. We have established Advanced Practitioner (AP) & First Contact Practitioner (FCP) positions that support MSK care pathways across our service & we are currently recruiting to our MSK Consultant Physiotherapist post.

Following internal promotion, we are now looking to recruit more senior MSK physiotherapists to join our clinical teams.

Successful candidates would demonstrate expertise in clinical assessment & treatment,diagnosis and appropriate onward management of patients presenting with chronic & acute musculoskeletal problems,in conjunction with leadership skills to support our wider acute & community MSK teams. Working alongside our leadership team of APs, FCPs & Clinical Pathway Leads, you will have the opportunity to build on your skills in clinical leadership, education & service improvement to ensure continuous development of our services & support delivery of the best MSK care for our patient community.

This role will include working one day a week in an FCP capacity, with the support & supervision of our FCP Pathway Lead. You will be able to evidence a strong base of CPD activity and experience to support your portfolio completion for Stage 1 of the FCP roadmap.

Main duties of the job

There is opportunity to develop your clinical skills in sub specialities that align to our MSK care pathways including; upper limb, lower limb, rheumatology, and spinal pathways. Successful candidates will be supported to complete Stage 1 of the FCP roadmap to enable progression through to Stage 2.

Innovation is key to the development of our services. You will be fundamental in the clinical development of others and the service, and as such will be expected to both support, and participate in regular supervision, teaching and appraisal opportunities, and any development opportunities we can offer you. The Trust offers a range of Quality Improvement and Leadership training programmes, and we have close links with the University of Brighton supporting post-graduate education through our Learning & Development service and our appraisal process.

About us

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT) currently delivers MSK physiotherapy services across 8 outpatient settings in East Sussex. These posts work between acute & community sites with the opportunity to rotate every 2 years. This ensures our lead clinicians are able to share their expertise & knowldege across our wider teams and promotes equality of access to development opportunities across the breadth of our service.

This position will require cross-site working & attendance at meetings within ESHT & within Primary Care. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to travel to fulfil this role.

This is a full-time permanent role, based on a 4 day working pattern between 8am & 6 pm. Consideration will be given to part time working, so please get in touch to discuss options

  • Post graduate learning - external courses in MSK field

Desirable

  • Postgraduate/ higher level learning ? Masters modules, ? PG cert's/ diplomas in clinical physiotherapy and / or healthcare leadership
  • Courses with recognised bodies such as AACP or BAHT or ATCP

Experience

Essential

  • 5 years minimum post-qualification with clinical background in respiratory, neurological and orthopaedics and MSK.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience at Band 6 level in MSK
  • Experience of Physiotherapy Triage and prioritisation
  • Evidence in past clinical experience of - multi-disciplinary working, -multi-agency liaison - close working with orthopaedics, GP's and consultants
  • Experience/ evidence of clinical audit activity
