GP Out of Hours Administrative Support Officer

Job summary

The post holder will assist in the provision of a GP Out of Hours Service to the patients of Western Cheshire by supporting the clinical team in an administration capacity.

Part time - 32 hours per week (Overnight shifts 22:00-08:00 (9.5 hour shifts) - please contact Ellie Malam - ellie.malam1@nhs.net for exact working pattern).

The admin team work on a rolling 4 week rota and we are looking to recruit specifically for the below shifts:

Week 1 Friday 1830-2200 (3.5 hour shift)

Week 2 Friday 1830-2200 (3.5 hour shift)

Week 4 Friday 1830-2200 (3.5 hour shift)

Week 4 Friday 2200-0800 (9.5 hour shift)

Week 4 Saturday 2200-0800 (9.5 hour shift)

The Trust currently supports the Real Living Wage (RLW) hourly rate as set by the Living Wage Federation and will apply a pay supplement if the national A4C hourly rate falls below this.

Main duties of the job

Clinical and Health Care

1. To answer health professional phone line and add cases to SystmOne e.g. blood results,referrals from other health professionals or AVS calls.

2. To support clinical, non clinical staff and Service Users by contributing to the smooth running ofthe service.

3. Receive specimens from patients and record these on the audit trail to be taken to the lab.

4. Chaperone as and when required.

Communication

5. To act professionally as the first point of contact with service users and staff members using theservice, whilst promoting good public relations.

6. To liaise with other OOH providers to pass over patients outside of the Western Cheshireboundary area, in line with the cross border agreement or transfer of call details andcommunicate with staff in satellite bases to ensure the smooth running of the service.

7. To attend staff meetings.

8. To follow special notes procedures to add alerts to patient records; ensuring flow ofcommunication between the service and other healthcare providers.

9. To be responsible for handling telephone and face to face enquires, concerns or comments,answering telephone calls, taking messages and taking appropriate messages as necessarywhilst mindful of confidentiality.

10. To contact the Physical Health On-Call Tier 2 manager as required.

11. To follow the Business Continuity Plan in the event of a service failure to ensure the continuousrunning of the service.
