Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates who are enthusiastic about working to improve the experience of service users in mental health inpatient settings. The role is ward based and involves direct patient care, delivering group and 1;1 activity based sessions, supporting safe discharge and improving the inpatient experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor you will be expected to support the Occupational Therapy team and MDT to provide high quality individualised care to patients. You will be supervised by an Occupational Therapist who will ensure that you provide appropriately safe and graded activities to support recovery.

You will work directly with patients to support their recovery in terms of personal care, activities of daily living, improving motivation through meaningful occupation and planning for a safe discharge.

A key part of the role involves planning and delivery activity based groups. A creative approach is key to ensuring all patients feel included and have opportunities appropriate to their needs and interests.

Building rapport and an effective therapeutic relationship with patients is key to supporting with their recovery and in keeping people safe.
